Old bug reports really are a sight to behold. I just had an issue with a select input not updating and ended up here: a 20 year old Mozilla bug that still gets comments.

I think it's ok that there's no correct answer, and the autocomplete=off trick worked for me, so I guess it's possible to over think some things.
